City Sights & Hot Springs in Jiangsu Province

Standard DreamTrip
Explore the cultural significance of Nanjing’s iconic landmarks on a city tour after spending a day unwinding in hot-springs baths & making tofu. Plus, stay & play at a trendy hotel just outside the city center with fun self-guided activities. Book by January 17.

About Your Trip

Leave the everyday behind and delve into the delights of Nanjing — one of the country’s Four Great Ancient Capitals — and beyond. Your first full-day tour takes you about an hour’s drive from the city to the world-renowned hot-springs area of Tangshan. Once there, partake in a tofu-making experience and then enjoy time soaking in hot-springs baths.

After a relaxing night at a hotel with hot-spring baths, you’ll head back to Nanjing for a full-day tour of the city’s incredibly rich historical sights. Stop at Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum and see the tomb of the man heralded as the “Father of Modern China.” Tour the grounds of the mausoleum before continuing to the Presidential Palace that houses China Modern History Museum. The palace dates back 600 years and reveals gardens, courtyards, sculptures, Qing-style atrium, meeting rooms, private quarters and more.

During your day of leisure in Nanjing, explore popular sites near your hotel in the Jianye district, such as Mochou Lake, Nanjing Olympic Sports Center and the memorial for victims of the Nanjing Massacre. For a change of pace, head to the city center where most of it is surrounded by a wall built during the Ming dynasty. In Xuanwu district, you’ll find Nanjing Museum and Lunggu Temple, while in Gulou district, see the Drum Tower, a city landmark built in 1382. The Confucian Temple in Qinhuai district, first constructed in 1034, is a great place to indulge in Ming- and Qing-inspired shops, restaurants and tea cafes.

What we love:
• While you’re out and about, be sure to take some time to sample some of Nanjing’s finest dishes, including tangbao (steamed dumplings) gansi (shredded tofu) and duck soup.
• Your hotel in Tangshan features hot-springs baths — besides being a place to socialize, they claim to offer various health benefits, including improved circulation, pain relief and mental relaxation.
• To maximize your enjoyment, download the DreamTrips™ app to access DreamTrips Local — then earn points on dining, entertainment, spa experiences & more at select spots recommended by DreamTrippers just like you!
